What is WLAN?
WLAN started out as simply a way to bridge access in areas where it was too difficult to place a normal set up. Wireless local area networks are systems designed to allow you to connect to the internet with out having to connect a bunch of wires and cables. They are very popular world wide and are central to coffee shops, cafes, and restaurants that allow you to connect to the internet via laptop. They are central to libraries, hotels and many more points of connectivity public and business. Wireless local area networks allow this connectivity through different methods. There is the peer to peer method which allows to systems to communicate directly without wire. There is roaming. It allows for the signals to move around from access point to access point based on signal strength. There is the wireless distribution system which allows for connection expansion to multiple access points and the bridge which allows for connectivity to networks of multiple types. These simple adaptabilities have made it the rage of the present and allowed for growth in many companies. The uses that WLAN has created are moving very quickly and looking to surpass present technology so task groups have been formed to expand the existing usage into the future. They will be dealing with issues like gridlock and system grinding. These are already becoming problems for WLAN as there are just too many people in some areas trying to use to little bandwidth. At some point they have to begin to centralize or organize the WLAN networks in order to continue smooth operation.. They have a serious work cut out for the future.
